DISCOVER YOUR PLACE TO BELONG. Based on English boarding schools’ efforts to build smaller communities and foster a broader sense of unity, Village Christian Middle School’s house-based signature program, House of Village, infuses Biblical core values into pivotal student social-emotional development.
Named for essential virtues that reinforce and cultivate strong character and culture – Compassion, Excellence, Faith, Honor, Truth, and Respect – these Houses will become students’ “home” throughout their Middle School careers, serving as the foundation for seminars, character-building, competitions, and more. And featuring their own unique mascot and colors, students will quickly become immersed in a vibrant sense of identity, belonging, and spirited involvement during gatherings and activities during special times in their lives.
BUILD UNIQUE BONDS
Upon entering Middle School, every student is placed into a House, immediately becoming part of a new community that crosses social, interest-based, and demographic barriers.
WIN THE VILLAGE CUP
Earn points each day as teachers witness virtues and values of each House lived out across categories, such as academic excellence, athletic achievement, community building, good character, hard work and effort, school spirit, teamwork, and cooperation, and through friendly competitions and special events. The House with the most points will earn the Village Cup and a celebratory field trip.
CONNECT, REFLECT, AND GROW
Each week, students connect with their House during seminar to discuss what they have learned in chapel, explore leadership opportunities, enjoy tailored activities, pray together, and discover how they can put their House virtues into action.
PREPARE FOR HIGH SCHOOL SUCCESS
Through ongoing emphasis on the six core House virtues in Middle School, students will transition into High School prepared to dive into Concentrations® with hearts and minds ready to thrive.
The House of Village program adds an exciting new dimension to the Middle School experience. More than just a competition, it creates opportunities for students to belong, grow, lead, and encourage one another.
We look forward to seeing how the Lord uses each House to help build up young men and women of God, and how, together, they will make Village Christian Middle School feel even more like home.
