Beacon is a fee-based program offered to students in 3rd through 12th grades who are in need of academic support. Beacon students will benefit from differentiated instruction and progress monitoring by trained teachers.
Beacon in Elementary School
Beacon is offered for students in grades 3-5 through teacher recommendation only. Elementary Beacon students will receive the following services:
- Twice-Weekly One-on-One Sessions
- Student Monitoring and Goal Setting
- Teacher Collaboration/ Classroom Strategies
- Develop Greater Degrees of Self-Advocacy and Academic Ownership
- Parent Communication
- Teacher/Student/Parent Conferences as needed
- Standardized Testing Accommodations per IEP
- Coordinate services available through LAUSD
Beacon in Middle/High School
Beacon is offered for grades 6-12 through parent and/or teacher request. Beacon students will receive the following services:
- Twice-Weekly Small Group Sessions
- Student Monitoring and Goal Setting
- Teacher Collaboration/ Classroom Strategies
- Develop Greater Degrees of Self-Advocacy and Academic Ownership
- Parent Communication
- Teacher/Student/Parent Conferences as needed
- Standardized Testing Accommodations per IEP
- Coordinate services available through LAUSD
- After School Homework Club Tuesdays and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
- Homework Club is included for Beacon students

Elementary students qualify with a teacher recommendation. Secondary students qualify with parent and/or teacher recommendation.
The fee for Beacon is $745 quarterly.
Elementary students are still developing and each child develops skills at a different rate. Teachers need time to implement all interventions before a student will be recommended for the Beacon program.
No. The only students allowed to be in the Beacon room are Beacon students.
As a private school, we try to meet as many of the IEP goals as we are able. Though we are not staffed to address all of them, we will use the information provided by the IEP to assist our teachers in understanding your child’s unique learning needs.
Yes. The Beacon teachers have access to FACTS. They will collaborate closely with teachers to foster student growth and success.
The Beacon teachers will communicate weekly with parents using an app called Seesaw. This app is a running log of your child’s activities in Beacon.
Depending on teacher availability, rescheduling will occur when time permits.
Though Homework Club is not a tutoring center, it is a quiet place for students to complete their homework with a supervising teacher available to answer questions.
No, Beacon does not provide subject specific tutoring. However, if a student would benefit from that, the Beacon teacher may be able to give recommendations.
