Beacon | Academic Support

Beacon is a fee-based program offered to students in 3rd through 12th grades who are in need of academic support. Beacon students will benefit from differentiated instruction and progress monitoring by trained teachers.

Beacon in Elementary School

Beacon is offered for students in grades 3-5 through teacher recommendation only. Elementary Beacon students will receive the following services:

  • Twice-Weekly One-on-One Sessions
  • Student Monitoring and Goal Setting
  • Teacher Collaboration/ Classroom Strategies
  • Develop Greater Degrees of Self-Advocacy and Academic Ownership
  • Parent Communication
  • Teacher/Student/Parent Conferences as needed
  • Standardized Testing Accommodations per IEP
  • Coordinate services available through LAUSD

 

Beacon in Middle/High School

Beacon is offered for grades 6-12 through parent and/or teacher request. Beacon students will receive the following services:

  • Twice-Weekly Small Group Sessions
  • Student Monitoring and Goal Setting
  • Teacher Collaboration/ Classroom Strategies
  • Develop Greater Degrees of Self-Advocacy and Academic Ownership
  • Parent Communication
  • Teacher/Student/Parent Conferences as needed
  • Standardized Testing Accommodations per IEP
  • Coordinate services available through LAUSD
  • After School Homework Club Tuesdays and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Homework Club is included for Beacon students
