These exciting programs provide K-12 students with more advanced one-on-one education in classes and productions such as acting, musical theatre, dance, and private lessons in a variety of instruments. Our teachers are industry professionals with a passion for education and the desire to help our students grow in their gifts and talents.
Most Fine Arts Academy classes are open to both VCS and non-VCS students.

The Musical Theatre Dance Intensive focuses on building strong technical foundations while exploring the dynamic, expressive style of Broadway dance. Students will train in core techniques of jazz, ballet, tap and theatre dance—while developing strength, flexibility, coordination, and stage presence. Beyond technique, students gain valuable experience working as part of an ensemble: picking up choreography quickly, matching style and energy, and supporting one another to create a polished group performance. We will also be working on some choreography from our 2027 High School Spring Musical! The camp culminates in an exciting final performance, where students showcase a fully staged Broadway-style ensemble piece for family and friends.

Enrollment: When you register for private lessons, the first available instructor or academy assistant will contact the parent/student in order to arrange a lesson time that will be most suitable to both teacher and student. If you are not contacted, please email fineartsacademy@villagechristian.org. If you would like to request a certain instructor, please contact fineartsacademy@villagechristian.org prior to registration to inquire about availability.
Billing and Payment:
- The cost for private lessons starts at $40 per half hour. These vary by teacher, and you will be contacted if an instructor's fee is higher than $40 per half hour.
- Lessons are billed monthly through CampBrain. You are charged for lessons attended and lessons that have not been canceled with at least 24 hours notice. Please review the Cancellations and Rescheduling section below.

If the cancellation is not given at least 24 hours in advance, the student will be responsible to pay for the missed lesson. Aside from general courtesy, this policy is intended to give the academy instructors enough time to fill that half-hour with another student or to use that time more productively. Canceled lessons may be rescheduled if another space is available and the teacher is willing to do so. Applicable charges will be applied for rescheduled sessions.
If the teacher or the school is forced to cancel sessions for any reason, the student will not be billed. Substitute instructors may be utilized to prevent cancellations.
If the student is late for his/her lesson, the teacher is responsible to wait 10 minutes before the student is considered absent. If the student arrives after that time and the teacher is still available, he or she will not be responsible to extend the lesson to make up for the lost time.
Withdrawals: To withdraw from lessons, you must email fineartsacademy@villagechristian.org 24 hours prior to your next scheduled lesson. Please note that your time slot may be given to another student.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU: Our top priority is to educate, encourage and develop your student’s gifts and talents in the Arts. We want every student to have a positive experience, to create fun memories and to learn the discipline and skill of excellence in Musical Theatre.
In the Fine Arts Academy, we strive to:
- Educate students with excellence in the arts.
- Recognize and develop the unique gifts and talents in each student.
- Find a moment for each of them to shine.
- Build a foundation in humility and an appreciation for the God who created them and loves them.
SHOW COMMITMENT: After accepting the role given and completing registration online, the student has created a commitment to the show and the cast. They commit to prepare adequately, attend all assigned rehearsals and be present at all performances. Everyone must do their own part to make this show a success! We have a “3 Strikes and You’re Out” policy for this show, meaning that if a student has more than three unexcused absences, displays a lack of respect towards the Directors, parent volunteers and/or cast, they will be removed from the show with no refund.
CHILDCARE: All students must follow the regular childcare procedures and remain in the childcare area unless it is their actual rehearsal time or they are under the direct supervision of a parent. They may not “hang out” on campus to wait for their call time or for siblings who are in the play. Normal childcare charges will apply for non-rehearsal times that students are on campus. Any student not picked up promptly at the end of rehearsal will be checked into childcare and will incur normal childcare charges for the period of time they are there. If you have any questions regarding childcare, please contact the elementary office.
REHEARSAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Weekly emails are sent every Friday for the following week with a detailed schedule.
- Pack EXTRA snacks for your student and a refillable water bottle for all rehearsals. We will NOT be providing snacks.
- Check days, times, location and “WHO” carefully. If you have any questions, email the producer(s)
- Parents are to inform the producer(s) of any known conflicts so that the directors can accommodate, as much as possible, student conflicts within the rehearsal schedule. Please make every effort to schedule after-school activities, including medical appointments, on dates and times that do not conflict with the rehearsal schedule. Missed rehearsals put the whole cast and crew behind.
REHEARSAL ATTENDANCE POLICY:
- Please don’t come if you are sick.
- Please make every effort to schedule all appointments around the rehearsal schedule.
- No more than three absences from rehearsals will be allowed. After 3 absences, a meeting will then be held to evaluate the student’s continued participation in the show. No refunds will be given.
VCS SCHOOL ATTENDANCE POLICY: Students must be at school by 11 AM in order to participate in rehearsals or performances that same day. Please do not miss school, especially on a performance day. We do not want your child to miss out on a performance. There are no exceptions to this.
COSTUMES: The costume designer will give us information later in the rehearsal process about what you will need to provide for your child. This usually includes specific shoes and a base layer (specific colored shirt or leotard, leggings, shorts, or tights, etc.). There will usually be links from amazon that the designer gives us, and you just need to order the right size for your child. Students should bring their own base makeup, hair brush, hair ties, hair spray, etc.
TECH WEEK: ALL students must attend ALL tech rehearsals for their cast. NO EXCEPTIONS. It is for their safety. Tech week is when we put all of the elements together (lighting, sound, sets, costumes, props). It is a lot of work, but very rewarding once we get to the performances! The students eat dinner together as a cast at all evening tech rehearsals and dress rehearsals. The meal coordinator will be reaching out for help from the parents to provide meals. Each family is required to contribute. More about that is under “Parent Volunteers & Involvement”.
PERFORMANCES: There will be 6 performances total. If double cast, each cast will get 3 performances. One of these performances may be a staff preview night. A limited number of tickets (to be determined at a later date) will be made available to each family with a student in that cast.
PARENT VOLUNTEERS & INVOLVEMENT: We expect every family to volunteer in some way(s). If you are unable to give your time, you are more than welcome to give resources. We strive to make the show affordable for everyone. If you have been a part of these productions or have been in the audience, you know the level of excellence that the Fine Arts Academy has - we cannot do that without volunteers and donations - monetary, material, etc. It is such a joy and blessing to work with this amazing team and all of your children. We would love for you to experience that joy with us if you are able!
WORK DAYS: We will have parent work days where we will need all hands on deck for painting, building, and prepping the show. Many hands make this process so much easier. No special skills required. Students may attend only if a parent is there.
CAST MEALS: During TECH week our rehearsals are longer, so we have meals together as a cast. Each family must contribute to these meals. Our Meal Coordinator(s) will contact families and let them know how they can contribute. We will not be able to accommodate any allergies and dietary restrictions.
CONCESSIONS: The House Managers will send out a signup for concessions to sell and volunteers to work shifts at the concession stand. This is a great opportunity to get to know other parents! All proceeds from the concessions go right back into the program and help us keep it affordable.
STRIKE: After the final performance on Sunday, we will be striking the show. This includes tearing down the set, cleaning out the dressing rooms, putting props and set pieces away, and general cleaning. Many hands make light work! Please plan to stay and assist with this. After your child’s final performance, they cannot leave until they have checked out with the director and/or producer(s).
QUESTIONS/CONCERNS: Please try not to approach directors after rehearsals. They work long days and need to get home to their families. If you want to speak with them regarding something, contact the producer(s) first. We can usually answer your questions or, if we are unable to, we will be happy to put you in touch with them. It is best to send any questions to both emails so we can get back to you as quickly as possible.
