How many students do you have at Village Christian School?
We have two students at Village Christian School. Our daughter is Class of 2029, and our son is Class of 2032.

What made you choose Village?
VCS is an important place for our family. We both attended high school here and knew what a positive impact it had on our futures. When it came time for our daughter to start kindergarten, we toured a number of schools, just to do our due diligence. However, there was never a doubt in our mind that VCS was the right place for our children to grow intellectually and spiritually. From my daughter's first day of school, we have continued to be affirmed in our decision

How has Village impacted your student(s) and your family as a whole?
VCS has impacted our family as a whole by giving us a sense of grounding in a community where we feel accepted, safe, and loved. The kindness that we have been shown has helped us through challenging times, and we are so grateful for the life-long relationships that our children have formed.

If you had to identify one quality about Village Christian School that sets it apart from other schools, what would it be?
A quality that sets VCS apart is its amazing teachers. They are a dedicated group of individuals, who love students and love the Lord. We never cease to be amazed at the amazing teachers that our children have each year and are beyond grateful for the way that they pour into their lives. They lead their classes with a Christ-centered kindness and dedication that is unmatched.

What have you and your students been involved in during your time at Village?
We are so grateful for all of the ways that we've been able to be involved on campus. I have served on the Elementary PTF board for six years and love volunteering for class parties and other events. My husband is a member of the Foundation Board and always has a great time at the Golf Tournament. Our children both absolutely love being involved in the musicals, taking private instrument lessons, and playing sports. There is always something great going on, and we love being a part of it.

What advice would you give families considering Village?
My advice for families considering VCS would be to spend some time on our campus. Take a tour, come to a football game, or attend a fine arts performance. I am confident that in just a bit of time on campus, you will experience what a wonderful place this is. You'll see the love light that flows through VCS for yourself.

What is one memory or experience that stands out during your time at Village?
There was a time when our family had considered moving out of state, so we began to talk to our kids about it. The next morning, our kids were talking with one another, so we checked in to see what they were discussing. They told us that they had decided that we couldn't move away because then "we wouldn't be able to go to Village anymore." That was when we realized how important VCS was not only to my husband and myself, but to our kids. Needless to say, here we are years later, and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Is there anything else you’d like to share?
VCS isn't just a school; it's a community. It's a place to make connections, both for parents and for students, and it's a place where education, faith, and a love for people is integrated seamlessly. It has been integral for my children's foundations as they begin to explore their own beliefs and interests, and I am excited for the years that we have ahead of us here.

How many students do you have at Village Christian School?
We have two students at VCS; our daughter is Class of 2033 and our son is Class of 2037.

What made you choose Village?
We chose Village for our kids because of our positive experience as alumni. Our time at Village was great, and we wanted our kids to have a similar school experience. We also love that Village is a K-12 school, allowing our kids and entire family to develop lifelong friendships throughout our time together.

How has Village impacted your student(s) and your family as a whole?
Village has impacted our kids by providing a Christ-centered education. All of the elementary teachers have been so loving and truly have given us the extra support as a family in teaching God’s word to our kids. We are grateful our kids have the Bible integrated in everything they are learning while in school.

If you had to identify one quality about Village Christian School that sets it apart from other schools, what would it be?
VCS is truly a special place; when you enter the campus, you are family. There is a great sense of community. From the staff and teachers to other families, everyone is always willing to help one another. It’s important to be in a school where not only your kids feel comfortable, but your whole family has that support and care.

What have you and your students been involved in during your time at Village?
Our daughter loves being involved in the Fine Arts Department. She takes a variety of after-school dance classes, is in the yearly musical, and loves to be a part of the Crusader Choir. As parents, we enjoy volunteering within the Fine Arts Department and the musical. We are also involved with the Parent Teacher Fellowship and the variety of events throughout the year.

What advice would you give families considering Village?
My advice for families considering joining the VCS family is to jump all in! Once you are in, get involved and attend all of the wonderful community events the school offers. There are plenty of ways to be involved, and it makes your time that much more special with your kids. It’s truly a unique place to call home.

What is one memory or experience that stands out during your time at Village?
The best memories I have had with my kids at VCS are the special grade-specific activities, performances, and field trips. From the kindergarten “Spring Sing” show, to the first grade Thanksgiving feast all the way to Washington, D.C in 5th grade, every grade has something special to look forward to and be a part of.

How many students do you have at Village Christian School?
We have two children at Village – Class of 2024 and Class of 2028.

What made you choose Village?

We chose Village Christian School because it was highly recommended by a lot of different people around us, and it was very important to us to have our kids know Christ; to have the opportunity to take Bible class and be in a school that is Christ-centered.

How has Village impacted your student(s) and your family as a whole?

As a family, it has given us many opportunities to get closer to Christ and serve the school in different ways. The kids have made friends that they will cherish forever and have been blessed with loving and caring teachers.

If you had to identify one quality about Village Christian School that sets it apart from other schools, what would it be?

It's a family atmosphere, and everyone is working together to better the school and the students’ experience at the school.

What have you and your students been involved in during your time at Village?

My son was involved with basketball and my daughter has had the privilege to be part of the musical shows and Dance Company. She will be doing sports this year. As a family, we have helped at football and basketball games. Also, It is my honor to be serving on the Middle School PTF for the third year, serving on the board for Armenian Parent Group, and to continue to be part of the Moms’ Prayer Group.

What advice would you give families considering Village?
I would say don't hold back. Attend all school gatherings and go to your PTF meetings. Take the kids to all the shows and games. The more you show up, the more friendships you will build for yourself and your kids. Ask any and all questions, and know there are groups of parents who will answer or get an answer for you.

What is one memory or experience that stands out during your time at Village?
I have so many to pick from but the most touching and unforgettable one was my son's ninth grade year, when it was on Zoom. I was just outside his room at my desk, and all I can hear was his teachers expressing their love and compassion during one of the hardest times of their life. I knew that their love would take care of all the frustration and they would have peace of mind to learn.

How many students do you have at Village Christian School?
We have one son who will be graduating this year in the Class of 2024.

What made you choose Village?
We chose VCS because the school’s foundation is Christ-centered.

How has Village impacted your student(s) and your family as a whole?
We have been blessed by the school in many ways. The biggest blessing is how teachers and coaches have supported and encouraged our son throughout his time at VCS.

If you had to identify one quality about Village Christian School that sets it apart from other schools, what would it be?
Christ-centered. VCS is a school where Jesus is woven throughout every aspect of the school. Teachers pray for and with their students/families; curriculum includes God in it; athletics encourages coaches to ask, “Where is God in your program?"

What have you and your students been involved in during your time at Village?
My son has participated in both tennis and volleyball. I have been involved in MSPTF, HSPTF, and started the Boys and Girls Tennis Teams (along with another parent).

What advice would you give families considering Village?
There is something for each student and family to be a part of at VCS. I would encourage families to get involved to fully experience the Village Way...you will be blessed!

What is one memory or experience that stands out during your time at Village?
A few years ago there was a large fire that surrounded the school. Along with the firefighters, families and staff were there to protect and clean up our school. It was beautiful to see the community come together. I will never forget cleanup day; everyone joyfully served. After the fire was put out, the wooden cross on the hill still stood unscathed.

How many students do you have at Village Christian School?
We have two children at VCS. Our daughter is Class of 2031 and our son is Class of 2026.

How has Village impacted your student(s) and your family as a whole?
When I told my parents that my husband and I would send our kids to Village Christian, they breathed a sigh of relief! I had no idea they had been praying for my kids and for us to decide to send them to Village Christian. They have always loved Village Christian and knew God provided this school for my brothers and me (we are all alumni). Fast forward 39 years later, amid Covid, my children began their Village Journey. We received so much love and attention that I remember the night my son said, “Mom, I want to stay at Village Christian, and I never want to go back [to my old school].” We are forever grateful and know God had a plan long before we knew it. Since then, I can’t keep my mouth shut about Village Christian in Sun Valley off Penrose!! I even know the zip code by heart…91352; there is only one!

What have you and your students been involved in during your time at Village?
My kids have created great memories from drum line to lacrosse, football, and our first theatre arts performance, "The Wizard of Oz." The teachers and staff are the best. Without them, Village Christian would not feel like home. This sense of home is where children can grow in a community that loves Jesus and God first. They will learn the Bible and the importance of fellowship. They know that when a Crusader is down, we pray and help them get back up. When a Crusader triumphs, we praise God and give thanks for the victory.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?
I hope you consider Village Christian a future home for your children to learn. As Jane Green says, “Anyone can live in a house, but homes are created with patience, time, and love.” When you think of Village Christian, consider it home with patience, time, and love.
