Easter Devotion: “Happy Resurrection Day”

The resurrection of Jesus is the central and most important truth in the history of humanity and the greatest reason for hope and joy.

If Jesus did not rise from the dead, Christianity is dead, the mission of Village is pointless, the Bible isn’t true, we have no hope of forgiveness, no chance of eternal life, and love will ultimately lose at death for everyone. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, He is irrelevant to you and doesn’t matter. But because Jesus did rise from the dead, He is most relevant and worthy of your faith because making your life count and your eternal destiny has everything to do with Jesus. Because Jesus did rise from the dead—Jesus is who He says He is, the Christian faith is the only way to truly know God, the Bible is truth, there is hope for forgiveness, the church, this school, and every Christian has a beautiful mission in this world, and love through the gospel will overcome death for those who believe in the Risen Lord Jesus. The Resurrection of Jesus is the truth that changes everything for everyone, including you and you can’t just casually think of Jesus.

The Christmas miracle is that the eternal Son of God was born into this world. He came in redeeming love for the unworthy, the broken, the guilty, the lost, the sinful, and the humble. But the Easter Miracle tells you the Son of God resurrected from the dead in victory over sin and death. Because of this redemption is accomplished. Furthermore, Jesus is altogether willing and able to save you, to give you new and true life, if you would respond to His gospel invitation and come to Him, trust in Him, repent of your sin and believe in Him, receive and rest in Him as your Lord and Savior.

It’s the love of God the Father that brought about the sending of Jesus, His Son. And Jesus, full of grace and compassion, lived for you, in love Jesus died for you taking on Himself the judgement of God against sin, and He rose again fully confirming that He is exactly who you need. And the Spirit of God through the Word of God is telling you to come to Christ for true life. The resurrection of Jesus proclaims the redeeming love of Jesus that cannot be defeated by death and the Bible says whoever confesses that Jesus is Lord and believes in your heart that God raised Him from the dead—you will be saved (Romans 10:9). The resurrection of Jesus, changes everything for everyone including you and you can’t see this as just some holiday—it must be your greatest hope.

Only one religion in the world has someone in the center who isn’t dead. You may love or hate history—but the resurrection of Jesus is actual history that didn’t just happen in the past, it’s something that matters for you personally in the present, inviting you to consider the good news of Jesus, the only Savior and Son of God. The greatest day for humanity was not when man stepped on the moon, but when Jesus rose and stepped out of His tomb.

If you want love that overcomes death, look to the Risen Jesus. If you want faith in one who will never forsake you, look to the Risen Jesus. If you want living Hope, peace, and joy—look to the Risen Jesus. If you need eternal life and life more abundant today, it’s only found in the Risen Lord Jesus. And through His Word, by His Spirit, this living Savior is inviting you to come to Him by faith and find forever rest. If you are a Christian, continue to look to Christ, rejoice in our risen Savior, find assurance in His victory, and tell others the good news.

Village Christian School’s existence is possible only because Christ is risen. The VCS ministry was always meant to firstly be an outreach for the gospel proclaiming the victory of the risen King Jesus through a distinctly Christian education. Our desire and prayer is for everyone in the Village Community to place their hope in the Risen Lord Jesus and build your life’s foundation upon Him. As we have proclaimed this whole year, on Christ the solid rock we stand, all other ground is sinking sand. Pray with us that this foundation would never be moved and we pray you would eternally rejoice by faith in the Risen Lord Jesus. The resurrection of Jesus is what Easter is all about and it changes everything.

Happy Resurrection Day!

In Christ,
