Journey back in time and explore the underground streets of Edinburgh, Scotland, and try your hand at forensic sleuthing in London. Trace innovations that shaped Britain’s modern healthcare landscape, and participate in hands-on workshops to discover how real-life medical careers operate.

Day 1: Fly overnight to Scotland

Day 2: Edinburgh

  • Meet your Tour Director at the destination airport
  • Travel to Edinburgh
  • Take a walking tour of Edinburgh

Day 3: Edinburgh

  • Take a medical-themed tour of Edinburgh
  • With your expert local guide you will:
  • Discover the city’s rich medical heritage
  • See the oldest medical institution in the English-speaking world
  • Learn about Edinburgh’s grave robbing history
  • Visit Mary King’s Close, a network of subterranean streets that once housed victims of the plague
  • Visit Edinburgh Castle

Day 4: Edinburgh

  • Visit the National Museum of Scotland
  • Visit the Surgeons’ Hall Museums, which feature anatomical artifacts and medical innovations
  • Explore Edinburgh on your own

Day 5: Edinburgh | London

  • Travel by train to London
  • Take a walking tour of London
  • Ride the London Eye

Day 6: London

  • Participate in a forensics workshop, where you’ll learn criminal investigation skills like fingerprint analysis and crime scene assessment
  • Visit the Tower of London
  • Take a guided Jack the Ripper tour and follow in the footsteps of the 19th-century serial killer

Day 7: London

  • Visit to a medical-themed museum
  • Take a medical-themed tour of London
  • With your expert local guide you will see places like:
  • Royal London Hospital
  • The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (Bart)
  • Visit the Wellcome Collection, which challenges how we think about the connections between health, science, and art

Day 8: London

  • Learn firsthand about the practice of applied medicine during a visit to a hospital, medical school, or surgical office
  • Participate in a workshop at the Old Operating Theatre
  • Meet with a medical professional to learn more about Britain’s healthcare system
  • Enjoy a theater performance

Day 9: Depart for home
